REVIEW: Beach Club Hamilton Island

Beach Club Hamilton Island an exclusive adults only resort in the beautiful Whitsundays. If you’re wondering whether the adults only Beach Club Hamilton Island resort is worth the money? Then this blog article is for you! My now husband (still getting used to that word) and I recently traveled to Hamilton Island for four nights after our wedding and stayed at Beach Club so I thought I would provide an honest review of our experience as we were a little skeptical when it came to booking and paying for the hotel.

Arrival at Beach Club Hamilton Island

The luxury experience starts from your arrival at the airport where a driver is waiting for you holding a “Beach Club” sign. After a friendly greeting, our driver directed us to the air conditioned car and said not to worry about collecting our luggage from the carousel. Our bags would be collected and transported to the hotel. This felt super luxurious and a service I could get used to!

Check-In

Within five minutes drive from the airport, we arrived at the Beach Club Resort and were directed to the lounge area which consisted of beautiful decor and comfortable lounges. We were offered a complimentary glass of champagne or cocktail and of course, opted for the champagne, which we sipped while a staff member explained all facilities and services the hotel has to offer. A delicious appetizer of arancini was also served while we signed necessary paperwork and checked into the hotel QR code system.

We had approximately one hour until check in which is from 2pm. The hotel staff advised they would call us when the room was ready and in the meantime, suggested we lay by the pool, on a beach lounge or chill out in the lounge area but we opted to go for a walk and explore the island. Right on 2pm, I received a call to say the room was ready. We returned to the hotel, collected our room key and made our way to room 130.

The Rooms

There are only two stories to the resort so you will either be on the ground floor or level one. Our room, 130 was on the ground floor which we loved because we had direct access on to the beach. I imagine the upside of being on level 1 is the ocean view but I prefer the private courtyard and beach access that we had on ground floor.

The rooms are modern, fitted with ample cupboard and storage space as well as a mini bar fridge, snacks, complimentary tea and coffee (Nespresso pods). Two brand new reusable water bottles are waiting on the bedside table to refill with filtered still or sparkling water (machine located in the lounge area) throughout our stay, we used these every single day.

The bathroom is gorgeous and includes a huge bathtub, rainfall shower head and Aesop toiletries which are replenished each day.

Beach Club Hamilton Island Facilities

The infinity pool looks out to the ocean and is situated in front of the restaurant on one side and bar to the other, with a handful of sun loungers and umbrellas. The sun beds are often taken however there is plenty down at the beach with ample shade from the permanent beach umbrellas, all of which are exclusive for Beach Club guests only. We sat down at the beach most days and only used the pool on our last day.

Entry to the gym on Hamilton Island, named “Sports Club” is included in your stay at Beach club and includes access to the spa and sauna. After using many hotel gyms in Australia and around the world, this was rather impressive.

Gym classes including spin class are on offer with the timetable available through the Hamilton Island app. The equipment and machines on the gym floor are more than enough to get a great workout in including squat racks, dumbbells and cables as well as a seated row, lying leg curl, leg press, treadmills, elliptical and stair master machines.

You also have access to the resort centre which is walking distance from Beach club resort. This centre is a kids paradise with paddle tennis, games and pools, one of which has a swim up bar. We walked down to see the centre but decided to go back to Beach Club which was a lot nicer and free from screaming kids.

Guests of Beach Club resort also receive complimentary use of all non-motorized water sports down at the beach, including kayaks and sail boats. The kayaks can be taken out at almost anytime whereas you need to book in use the sail boats which are dependent on the tides.

Beach Club Hamilton Island Restaurant

Breakfast is included in the room rate and served a la carte until 10.30am. I absolutely prefer this over a buffet, as it felt like dining at a cafe with fresh food and coffee made to order. I was a huge fan of the smashed avocado with poached eggs and a decaf almond milk latte. You also have the option to have breakfast served in your room by completing a form with your order and handing it to the restaurant the night prior.

The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner for guests and general public with the menu changing slightly each day. We had dinner in the Beach club Restaurant on our second night and it was hands down the best meal we had on the island. I recommend booking in advance and stating whether you would like to sit inside or outside (we sat outside).

Personally, I found the food options on Hamilton Island to be rather disappointing. The best meal we had was definitely at Beach Club and I’m glad I packed some of my own healthy treats for our trip. These strawberry gummy and protein ball recipe are great for travel.

Cleanliness

The entire resort including the common areas and pool are clean and tidy. Our rooms were cleaned each day with beds made, toiletries and mini bar refreshed.

The turn down service occurred each night, with our rooms being refreshed and tidied again while we were out and about for dinner. A lovely little square of Cuvée chocolate was also left on our pillows which was a nice treat to return to after walking home from dinner.

Service

The staff really go out of their way to talk to you and ensure that you are enjoying your stay including offering tips and recommendations for the island.
On our first day we sat down at the beach on the sun loungers which are exclusive for guests of Beach Club Resort and every 30 minutes or so a staff member would be doing the rounds to see if you needed anything or wanted to order a drink, snack or meal.

As a guest of Beach Club resort, you have access to a chauffeur service anywhere on the island which can be arranged by calling or visiting reception. They will drive you to a restaurant, walking trail, water sport activity, literally anywhere on the island and when you’re ready to be collected you can call and arrange a return pick up. This is a really nice touch as the beach buggy’s need to be booked well in advance of your stay at Hamilton Island. We were totally unaware of this and missed out on securing a buggy but found it was not a problem. We are quite active and walked to most places, only using the chauffeur service once or twice when it rained.

A big thank you to the hotel manager also, upon check in, he arranged a complimentary bottle of Piper Heidensick champagne with a congratulatory note for our honeymoon  This was a lovely and thoughtful touch to discover in our room.

Checking Out of Beach Club Hamilton Island

On our last night we returned from dinner and found an envelope at the front door. Inside was a brief note with details of check out time being 10am, the time of our outbound flight the next day and a scheduled chauffeur service to the airport. The note advised us to leave our luggage in the room as it would be transported to the airport by a Beach Club staff member. It was nice not having to lug our bags to reception but it’s not something that would make or break my decision to book a hotel.

Summary

We enjoyed every moment of our stay at Beach Club Hamilton Island and would go so far as to say it is the perfect hotel/resort for a honeymoon, babymoon or adults only vacation. I can’t imagine staying anywhere else on the island now that we have had the Beach Club experience.

Keep in mind, this is truly an adults only resort so you best leave the kids at home or find an alternative hotel on the island. We both said that we would love to return to Beach Club Hamilton Island one day, potentially next time with friends to enjoy those delicious pool side cocktails.
