Caramel Frappuccino

When it comes to a coffee frappuccino, an ice cold caramel frappuccino will always be my first pick. There is something about the flavours of coffee and caramel combined that just make my taste buds very happy!

Why make your own Caramel Frappuccino?

You can save SO much money by making your own caramel frappuccino at home. Fancy iced coffee drinks can cost anywhere north of $6 per drink at large chains like Starbucks and Gloria Jeans which will add up over time – that’s over $2,000 worth if you buy one every day, OUCH! I would much rather be investing that $2,000 every year to get me closer to retirement, making my own frappuccinos at home!

Cost is not the only reason to make your own caramel frappuccino. This homemade version contains close to zero sugar, much less calories and a good serving of protein and healthy fats. This is basically ‘health’ in a drink, so what are you waiting for?

Ingredients to make Caramel Frappuccino

Coffee – regular granulated coffee works perfectly in this recipe. I actually use a granulated decaf coffee as I rarely ever have caffeine these days, I just love the taste. When it comes to decaf, always read the label to ensure the swiss water method has been used to decaffeinate the coffee and not chemicals. This is the brand I like to use.

Caramel Stevia drops – Once you try these you will wonder how you ever lived without. They will up your coffee game to constant caramel latte vibes but without the sugar and with no added calories. Purchase here from Naturally Sweet. Alternatively you can use a sugar free caramel sauce like Salty Caramel Topping from Natvia.

Nuts – Use any nuts of choice but I tend to choose walnuts or macadamias. You don’t need a lot, I usually throw 2-4 walnuts into the blender.

Milk – almond milk, coconut milk or regular cow milk, whatever you prefer to use will work in this recipe. I do not recommend oat milk as it is usually high in sugar and carbs with no nutritional value.

Collagen – I have only made this recipe with bovine collagen and NOT marine collagen so I’m really not sure if marine collagen will yield the same result? Bovine collagen tends to ‘fluff’ up sometimes in the blender and I think it’s what makes the texture of this recipe so good! I quite like using this grass fed vanilla collagen as it has a hint of vanilla flavour, a little stevia and is made with type 1 and 3 bovine collagen. It’s also very well priced compared to other collagen products on the market.

Stevia – I use a regular stevia blend that is mixed with erythritol, looks like sugar and can usually be used as a 1:1 replacement for sugar. Adjust the amount of stevia to your desired sweetness however I recommend using at least the same amount of stevia as coffee.

Ice cubes – I use a typical ice cube mould with 12 slots and fill them to the top so that my ice cubes are quite large. I’m being specific about my ice cubes because the right amount of ice and liquid is critical to getting the desired texture in this recipe which is thick and creamy.

High speed blender – You are going to want a great blender to make your caramel frappuccino and I am still very obsessed with my Ninja Foodie Power Nutri Duo. It is definitely the best bullet blender I have ever had. I purchased on Catch and activated my shopback account beforehand to ensure I received the benefit of cash back on the purchase.

Coffee Frappuccinno without the Caramel?

I find this hard to believe but if you don’t like caramel or can’t access stevia drops or a healthy caramel sauce, you can omit the caramel flavour and make yourself a regular coffee frappuccino.

Serving your Caramel Frappuccino

This is not the kind of recipe that can be made ahead of time so I only suggest making this when you are ready to consume.

Serve with whipped cream and a dust of cinnamon or chocolate or drizzle with caramel sauce. For extra caramel flavour, you can also drizzle some caramel on the inside of the glass before serving.
